And just like that my first giveaway is over.
It was a fun although brief experience, and i'm glad for it because as usual i'd already totally forgotten about it, i swear the weekend resets my brain...
Thank you to all 8 participants, i wish i could send to all of you!
Without further ado Random.org has named entry #2 Virgulina as the winner!
Thanks again to all contesters and a very special thanks to BookDepository for sending the extra copy.

Magic Slays Giveaway!

For those of you who don't know me, the Kate Daniels series are some of my all time favourites series. I reread bits and pieces of them whenever i'm in a slump, try to make everyone i know read them, and suffer incredible melodramatics for the whole month before the next instalment comes out (a big hug for T. who ends up being the only one who puts up with me during these very trying times).
This month was going the same way, except i was convinced i wasn't going to get the book by the release date and would have to buy a ebook copy on the launch day (like i had to do with Magic Mourns and Magic Bleeds), so imagine my surprise when through what was apparently a bug in a database i yesterday received multiple copies of Magic Slays (release date next tuesday), so i've decided to spread the good luck!
This is a giveaway for a copy of Magic Slays by Ilona Andrews (according to the authors this is a good entryway into the series).
Contest is open until Sunday (29/05/2011) and open to everyone, to enter leave a comment saying which novel\novella you preferred in the series and why.
Winner will be decided by random number generator among valid entries and announced next monday (30/05/2011).

Currently Reading Challenge 2011 - The Update

An Update to the Challenge, because everyone thought that the challenge was too hard, and they were right, i'm a moody reader and well things really haven't been happy and cheery lately.
So the Challenge will now last for the whole of the year and these will be the terms, for each 2 books in my Currently Reading List that i complete (either by finishing the book or dropping it for good) i get to start a new one as a reward, i HAVE to read the new one (this part is going to be tricky) and finishing the new one does NOT accumulate to the total of reads, so i only get rewards for finishing books i've started reading before February 2011.
We'll see how it goes for now, i've already completed 6 books, which awarded me the right to read 3, but i got carried away and read 4 (although in my defense 3 of those should count as one, Madeline Hunter's books always seem to be the same book, the difference is the historical setting passing by, and one of them was really awful...), so i have to finish 2 other books before moving on! Well wish me luck!

CRC2011 #1: Death Blows by D. D. Barant

Death Blows (The Bloodhound Files, #2)Death Blows by D.D. Barant
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

The problem with this series is, the author just does not work for me!
Although i have to admit, the comics part was very well researched...

Currently Reading Challenge 2011

A lot of my friends do Book Reading Challenges, and while i agree that most of them sound really fun and i always wish i'd participate in some, i'm just not a good reviewer, so my participation always falls a bit short.
This year a friend did a bit of a different challenge, we were not supposed to buy books during the whole month of January, i failed the challenge because i stupidly assumed it would last 3 months, not just the one and i broke down and made 3 pre-orders 2 days before the end, very stupid...
At the same time i started thinking, these challenges are supposed to help us with our reading, and what is my worst problem?
I get distracted too easily, so i end up leaving in the middle of a book, all the time, i may read 60% of the book in a seating and then i never pick it up again. It might have to do with the book not being good, or not.
Usually my biggest problem is the lull, every book has a lull, it's that time just before we head towards the end of the book, it's usually like 80% through or just 20 pages away from the end, but i just drop it, pick another one up and leave the books hanging for years...
And so i find myself currently with roughly speaking 100+ Currently Reading titles, these are books of which i've read more than one chapter and at some time dropped them like a ton of bricks, except i could build a house with all those bricks.
And so without further ado i explain, The Challenges:
For 3 whole months, from the first of February until the end of April i CANNOT pickup a new book, no exceptions! Unless i somehow reach the end of pile first (Ha! Ha! oh i'm so funny...)
The List (not complete, follow the link for a better idea):

I will update the results as i go, i will try the upmost to make at least a small commentary on the book if i can, but i make no promises, let the games begin!
