I love Kevin Smith's work, often i mention one of his films and people look blankly at me. So when i try to explain to them his work, this is the video to which i redirect them, The Flying Car was made specially for The Tonight Show and it's a short example of the kind of stuff you should expect from any of his films.
And which are his films you might ask?
Well here's the list:

Clerks
His first movie, shot in black & white, with a very small budget, this was truly a work of love as Kevin Smith sold his comic book collection to raise money for the production. I'd also have to say that it's my favourite.

Favourite Line: Dante: I'm not even supposed to be here today!

Mallrats
His second movie, there was a lot more money involved in this one, you can tell by the casting and the sets. In this movie we begin to see an emerging pattern in the "series", Jay & Silent Bob and Jersey are the main features on the 6 movies.

Favourite line: Stan Lee: You know, I think you ought to get him some help. He seems to be really hung up on super heroes' sex organs.

Chasing Amy
I always liked to think of Chasing Amy as the deep one, but with Clerks 2 that changed, it's also my least favourite of the collection, but it's a great look into people's relationships nonetheless, one other recurring theme in these movies is the "Buddy" thing, you'll get it by this time.

Favourite Line: Silent Bob: So I've spent every day since then chasing Amy...

Dogma
Dogma is the one that most escapes the format, as it's not all set in New Jersey. It's my second favourite and it's all about religion.

Favourite Line: Metatron: Anyone who isn't dead or from another plane of existence would do well to cover their ears right about now.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
This was supposed to be the last of the five movies on Jay and Silent Bob. Thank the gods for Jersey Girl, that's all i say.

Favourite Line: Holden: The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another.

Clerks II
I saw this one recently and wow! It's the first one and more!

Favourite Line: Randal Graves: What's the point of having an internet connection if you're not using it to look up weird fucked up pictures of dirty sex you'd never have yourself?

How this post ended up being so long, i'll never know, now stop reading this and go watch a movie.

Hot Fuzz

Police Constable, Nicholas Angel is good at his job, so good in fact, he makes everyone else look bad. As a result, his superiors at the Met have decided to sweep him under the carpet. So it is that London's top cop finds himself in the sleepy West Country village of Sandford. With neighborhood watch meetings replacing the action of the city, Angel struggles to adapt to his situation and finds himself partnered with Danny Butterman, an oafish but well meaning young Constable. Just as all seems lost, a series of grisly accidents motivates Angel into action. Convinced of foul play, Angel realizes that Sandford may not be as idyllic as it seems. With his faithful new partner in tow, Angel fights to prove his instincts are correct and uncover the truth about Sandford. Is Angel simply losing his mind in the safest, sweetest village in Britain? Or is something far more sinister at work? Whatever the truth, Sandford is about to get a lot less sleepy.

Em Janeiro de 2005, os Cinemas Millenium SA associados à Medeia Filmes SA , fizeram o lançamento do cartão King Kard, que, como é do vosso conhecimento é utilizável em condições idênticas nas salas de cinema exploradas por ambas as empresas.

Este cartão tem tido enorme sucesso, especialmente nas salas afectas aos Cinemas Millenium situadas no “Alvaláxia”.

Por decisão unilateral da Medeia Filmes SA, que nós repudiamos veementemente, fomos surpreendidos com o facto de não mais aceitarem, a partir do próximo dia 1 de Outubro o cartão King Kard nas suas salas.

Na expectativa da vossa compreensão, reiteramos o nosso esforço em continuar a oferecer aos nossos clientes uma programação diversificada e tão completa quanto possível nas nossas 16 salas.

No seguimento do comunicado enviado no dia 21 de Setembro de 20006, cumpre-nos esclarecer que o cartão King Kard continuará a existir única e exclusivamente nos Cinemas Millenium Alvaláxia.

Assim sendo o portador do mesmo poderá continuar a usufruir do cartão King Kard nas 16 salas dos Cinemas Millenium Alvaláxia.

Deixará então de ser aceite, por decisão unilateral da Medeia Filmes, a partir de 01 de Outubro de 2006, nas salas Monumental-Saldanha, King Cinemas, Nimas, Fonte Nova, Cidade do Porto e Campo Alegre.

Agradecemos a vossa melhor compreensão e preferência pelos Cinemas Millenium Alvaláxia.

Eu sempre soube que o King Kard não existiria para sempre, vou continuar a utilizá-lo até porque a maioria das vezes que o uso é no Alvaláxia, mas será este o princípio do fim?
